Our first Cheese delivery

On 21st and 22nd December many doorbells were answered by our lucky customers who ordered their cheese selections in time for Christmas. We sourced some fantastic cheeses produced across Britian, and delivered them to your door. For those of you who missed out on the first round, we thought we'd let you know what was in our Discovery Cheese box

Many of you raved about the Gorwydd Caerphilly with it's great depth of flavour, best munched with a few crackers and grapes to cleanse the palate. The Berkswell created quite a buzz - ewe's milk cheese being less commonly available in supermarkets - this was a rare gem that tickled some tastebuds.

Sandhams Lancashire Bomb – Produced by JJ Sandhams, a 3rd generation cheesemaker based in the heart of Lancashire near Preston, the Lancashire bomb has a rich and creamy flavour with a nutty finish.  It comes in a unique black wax ‘bomb’.

Cornish Blue – A sweet mild creamy blue cheese which we love. It has a distinctive character, is made by hand and matured for between 12 and 14 weeks. It has been produced on the Stansfield’s Farm on Bodmin Moor since 2001.

Gorwydd Caerphilly – A raw milk cheese which is smooth and buttery near the rind with a crumbly centre with hints of lemon. More complex than most Caerphillys, it should be eaten with the rind for full effect. Made by Todd, Maugan and Kim Trethowan at Trethowans Dairy which was started by Todd and his brother Maugan in 1996.

Wensum White Goat – A rarity, this is a soft brie style goats’ cheese with a pleasant creamy goaty taste in a white bloomy rind. The cheese can be firm developing over time with a thick ivory paste. Made by Fielding Cottage, an award winning goats’ cheese producer run by the Steggles, a husband and wife team, at their farm in the Breckland Valley, Norfolk.

Berkswell – A traditionally made ewe’s milk cheese made from raw milk, with a rich, sweet and fruity flavour. The texture is semi soft and made in a rinded wheel with a distinctive pattern on the outside. Made by Julie Hay and her team at Fletchers farm in Berkswell in the West Midlands. The farm has been in the family for 6 generations
